Neighborhood Watch
"YAP, YAP, YAP, YAP, YAP!"
Our neighbor's dog
is a noisy, little ball of white fluff.
He bounces along
the length of the chain link fence
around his yard,
as if tossed by the wind.
"YAP, YAP, YAP, YAP, YAP!"
He barks at all passersby:
whether cars, kids, squirrels,
other dogs, or butterflies.
His owner calls him Atticus.
We call him, That Yappycuss.
Like his namesake,
he takes seriously his job to defend.
"YAP, YAP, YAP, YAP, YAP!"
What a cute poem! I can just picture the yappy little booger. :)
ReplyDeleteAt the very least, Atticus, barks a greeting to all who pass even if a bit too enthusiastically...and too often.
ReplyDeleteoh dear. We have a yapper behind us. It can drive me from my own patio, even on a gorgeous day. Huge sigh.
ReplyDeleteA GOOD WATCHDOG AND A FUN POEM. HOPE YOU WILL HAVE A NICE MOTHER'S DAY. UNUSUALLY COLD HERE. NO PICNIC WEATHER!
ReplyDeleteThis is funny! But, on the other hand, constant yapping can be annoying. ;)
ReplyDeleteYappycuss is a cute name!
ReplyDeleteSo fun abd cute,I love dogs so much! Stay safe and healthy everyone ☺
ReplyDeleteCute! I love your name for him. :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Teresa. Thanks for visiting here too!
DeleteYappicus lol...cute poem . Does this drive you crazy. I lived in a house in Wrightwood after we sold and there was a yappy dog that never never ever stopped barking and they never let him in the house. I even went over and complained and the guy looked at me like - too bad - deal with it.
ReplyDeleteSandy, most days I am able to ignore it, but there are some days when it gets annoying. She does take him inside when the weather isn't nice enough for him to be out, so that gives us a reprieve.
DeleteI am so fortunate in this house - Gigi lived next door - sweetest little dog ever and never once barked at me over the fence - even the first day we momved in. hope all is well were you are - I've been thinking and wondering how the world has changed in your area.
DeleteThis is adorable, and as always I foresee children's books in your future.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute poem, Connie! However, I know the constant barking can be annoying. Wishing you a lovely Mother's Day. xo Mildred
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mildred. It's good to hear from you. You've been missed. I hope you are staying safe and doing well. Hope you have a lovely Mother's day too. Hugs to you.
DeleteThank you so much, Connie. I am trying to blog again and look forward to catching up with you. Have a blessed day.
DeleteFor us, we get to laugh at what must be an annoying situation for you! I hope you had a nice Mother's Day.

Yappycuss sounds interesting name...
ReplyDeleteCute poem.
I love the name Yappycuss, but I hope it's not too annoying.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
I love how you were able to magically turn a non-stop headache into an adorable poem! Maybe you should slip a copy into the owners’ mailbox, though a muzzle would work like a charm. Hope you’ll get some peace and quiet soon!

sending best wishes and hugs!
Oh no, that is so annoying, Connie.
ReplyDeleteWith all that yap, yap, yap, you can't even take a peaceful nap. But you could turn it into a fun poem, naturally. It's what you do so well.
I know that constant barking is an annoyance. Love your cute poem about it. Have a good weekend!
ReplyDeleteOh My.... I hate barking dogs (which bark CONSTANTLY). We have one across the field from us which barks and barks and barks. I don't think the owners even TRY to shut that dog up at all.... Drives us crazy. I love dogs--but hate the ones that bark constantly.... NUFF SAID.
ReplyDeleteCute poem though.....
Hugs,
Betsy
