Grandma's Lap

Grandma's Lap

There's no better place
to take a nap
than snuggled up
on Grandma's lap.

She finger sings the spider
up the water spout to me,
and I sit feeling sleepy,
while sitting on her knee.

She softly counts my fingers,
and then she counts my toes.
A yawn escapes from my mouth,
and my eyes begin to close.

Soon I'm drifting off to sleep
with dreams floating in my head.
I snooze and sigh with contentment,
when Grandma's lap is my bed.

  11. Now I'm missing the grandchildren when they were little and I would hold them on my lap. I know you are fully immersed in being a gramma - how could you not be!! Enjoy it so deeply because it goes too darn fast. Love the photo and your poem.

  27. when I was 5 years old, I once asked my grandmother to accompany me to the toilet, and at that time it was dark because at night, then I was afraid. but grandma said, calm down there is a grandmother beside you. That is a moment that I cannot forget to this day. I'm glad to have you as my friend
