Settling In

Settling In

Checking out new places,
arranging and rearranging spaces,
moving closer to familiar faces,
we've made the leap to a new home!

Packing, moving, and unpacking each box,
getting new keys and testing the locks,
organizing everything from soup spoons to socks,
we've settled in, quieting the urge to roam.

Hello friends! Please excuse my long absence from blogging. My husband has retired, and we have moved to a new home in a small city east of Cleveland. We now live nearby to family members and are looking forward to this next chapter in our lives. We still have many boxes to unpack, but we are slowly getting things arranged and settling in. The picture above is of our new home.

  4. Congrats and enjoy. Very cute home and nice to be close to family. (I'm guessing you can spoil that new grandchild more?)
Settle in and take a deep breath. Absorb what all that hard work has yielded. Kudos.

    1. Yes, we now live a short five minute drive away from my younger son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter. We are looking forward to spending time with them. We also live closer to many of my husband's relatives.

  5. Love the poem; you're so good at taking a situation and putting it into words!! My grandson and family are in Ohio now with his work; took the great granddaughter who was just beginning to try to walk when they left. Will you be closer to your new grand baby? Retirement must be great; wish I could. :)

    1. I hope your grandson and family are enjoying living in Ohio. It's a nice place to live although the winters can sometimes be harsh. Yes, we do now live close to my new grand baby. :)

  6. A new adventure and pretty house and setting - looks like you are on a corner. I think I've lived on a corner almost in every house I lived in. I love the snowy scene around there - love to look but over the snow right now..lol. How fun to start anew and I hope we get to see lots of pics - Remember "Pics or it didn't happen", lol. And especially of the baby and your walks around your area. I'm excited for you.

  9. Best Wishes to you and your husband in your "new" home, Connie. And since he retired, you must have as well? Hope that all gets settled in and you can go out and have some fun in your new surroundings. How far did you move?

    1. We moved about a 45 minute drive north from where we used to live. Yes, we are retired, at least for now. Neither of us have completely ruled out taking on a part-time job if something comes up that is a good fit.

  10. Nice poem. Enjoy your new home and neighbors (moving in winter up there--that must have been a chore, but wait, we moved to Michigan in January 2004 during a blizzard).

    1. It was bitterly cold the day we moved. I was glad when we were done for the day that day and could finally shut the door on the cold outside. Moving during a Michigan blizzard must have been quite a challenge!

  15. Hope you have many years of happiness in your new home. I wish I could scoop up our kids and grand kids and move to the beach. But as it is, that will not be, so we stay planted here and spend quality time with them.
