Flamboyant
Fall is the time when the trees become
like your eccentric Great-Aunt Irene.
One day: conservative, quiet, sedate,
dressed in a dignified, dark green.
The next: crazy, wild, inhibitions gone,
parading around, making a scene.
Flamboyant in yellow, orange, and red.
Life's too short to always wear green.
Oh good! You're back! What a wonderful descriptive poem; you've captured fall just right!
ReplyDeleteyour words are a treat for the eyes, as well as worthy of a chuckle. Great Aunt Irene - what a hoot! Perfect!!
ReplyDeleteHi Connie and welcome back. I love this poem which reminds me of Great Aunt Frances! lol
ReplyDeleteI always think of all the leaves you had to rake at your last home!
Yes! We did have a lot to rake there!!
DeleteThat's a great analogy (or simile, metaphor - I'm not sure on the correct terminology). Life is definitely too short for green all year long.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to see your art again, Connie. I've missed you.
Take care.
Fun poem. But soon the trees will be naked... what about Irene?
ReplyDeleteHahaha! :) Good point. You never know what Irene might do.
DeleteHi Connie, so glad to read this poem and welcome back to the blog world. Hope your jury time as an interesting experience.
ReplyDeleteHA! Yes, life's too short to only wear one color.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back! I hope you enjoyed your jury duty. I've only had it for a week at a time, which I enjoyed. Two months? Whew! That's quite a stretch.
Olá, lindas cores outonais. Bom fim de semana. Cumprimentos.
